Restoring the Elaine Community

The Elaine Legacy Center is researching, preserving, and sharing the oral narratives of descendants of the Elaine Massacre of 1919 and empowering Elaine to become a center of Delta spirituality, arts, music, and education so that incomes grow from current poverty levels to above average incomes for all.  Wealth accumulation begins with bank accounts for young people and new incomes for adults.

Creating a Regional Hub for Civil Rights and Culture

The oldest building in Elaine is being restored as a Museum and Civil Rights Center to welcome tourists, pilgrims, and scholars.  It will house exhibits of the Massacre, linkages of the massacre to continuing racial terror, and conferences for civil rights advocacy.  Dr. Paul Ortiz, University of Florida Professor and author of "African American and Latinx history of the United States" is the academic adviser.  Not to be forgotten is the beauty of the Delta Heritage Bicycle Path and undisturbed wildlife.
